Hot Springs

Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 virus we are having to cancel the Hot Springs Gravel Gauntlet for 2020. We will work on being back and even better in 2021!

We are leaving the info and courses up in case you want to go ride the course. Please be responsible and safe out there!

Hot Springs is on the NC/TN border about an hour northwest of Asheville. It's right in the middle of the mountains and the terrain will reflect that.

There are two course options, each with a lot of gravel roads and climbing. The 24 mile course features about 80% gravel and climbs just north of Hot Springs before coming down the most picturesque paved road alongside a flowing river. Finish up your ride by taking a flat 3 mile gravel road alongside the French Broad River.

For those who want the ultimate test in their cycling abilities, the 77 mile course follows the 24 mile course for the first 20 miles. It then splits off and adds a couple of gravel climbs before heading south and climbing the behemoth HC gravel climb up to Max Patch topping out at over 4,300 feet high. From there it's all downhill (20+ miles of downhill) back into Hot Springs. The 77 mile route features over 8,000 feet of climbing!
