Hit our favorite gravel roads around DuPont Forest
Join us Saturday, May 3rd, 2020 for the Falling Creek Pinnacle Punisher presented by Boyd Cycling and Southeast Gravel!
The Falling Creek Camp is a summer boys camp located in Tuxedo, NC. The camp has lot of mountain bike trails and is in close proximity to some of our favorite gravel roads.
The course for the Pinnacle Punisher will feature some of the same gravel roads as the longer event in the Tryon Gallop, however we wanted to open it to both distances. Pinnacle Mountain road is the feature gravel road in Boyd's Birthday ride every year and is a great test of a rider's ability, fitness, and equipment. It's the inspiration for the Boyd Cycling Pinnacle wheelset.
There are two course options, each making a loop around DuPont Forest. The 60k course comes back to the start after the scenic and difficult ride that is half paved and half gravel.
The 106k course adds the challenging ascents of both Rich Mountain Road and Cascade Lake Road before sending it down Green River road and then back to camp.
But we have a little added surprise! We're not just ending this event at camp. That would be too easy. The gravel road through camp is a kicker 1 mile climb at 10% average grade. Do you have what it takes to tackle this added punishment after already riding a difficult course?
There will be a free BBQ lunch and beer for all racers after the event!
